The Shoes - Time to Dance

The Shoes music video, Time to Dance, offers a very unrealistic view of the world today. Much of the time, the viewer will see what is going on as being very unreal and impractical. I think this is mainly to due with the song. Being a very upbeat and cheerful tune, it does not fit at all with the dark and frightening tone that the video gives off. I feel that reality is portrayed this way in order to gain the attention of the viewer. This is because the majority of the population would much rather see a thrilling and fascinating story which the video offers than a bland and boring one.
Focusing mainly on the daily life of a homicidal male, he is mainly portrayed as being a very distressed and troubled individual who can only seek comfort in the murder of others. This is shown not only through his actions, but also his expressions. He is shown for a large amount of the video with very crazed and manic expressions and is seen talking to himself during several shots which add to the tone that the film is trying to produce.
The Shoes video and song both come off as a bit different as well as strange. However, being an indie group, this is what you'd probably expect, exhibiting many of the stereotypes of the indie genre.
I believe that the video has effectively contributed to the sales of the song not only because of the big name actor, but also because of the intriguing and interesting story that the video tells. This draws peoples attention to watch the video and in turn, would compel them to purchase the song. I do feel that the song doesn't entirely fit with the video because of the different tones they give off. However, I believe that this was also done to further engage the viewer into watching the video.

The Winnebago Man
1. Before watching the documentary, myself and everyone else found "The Winnebago Man" video hilarious and entertaining. We weren't concerned for Jack and we put little thought into what consequences he faced because of it. However, after watching the documentary, my opinion on the video has changed significantly. I think because I understand what Jack had gone through as a result of the video, I no longer see Rebney as an angry and vile mouthed RV salesman, and more as a regular person.
3. After Jack's appearance at the festival, his opinion about his fans is swayed significantly. This is because he had been under the impression for so long that the people watching the video were only out to mock and ridicule him when they were actually his biggest fans.
4. With so much content being put onto the internet today, someone would have no trouble finding an infinite number of weird and eccentric things online. This is why the analogy that "the internet is like the modern day freakshow," does the internet such justice.
