Media plays one of the most important roles in my life. Because I consider myself a visual learner, I retain a considerable amount of what I know from films, the internet and T.V. and although I don't participate in the majority of social media, I still consider my passion for film, and other media to be a defining factor of who I am.

For me, film has always been the most fascinating form of media. This is not only because I find it the most entertaining but because film has always been the most artistically diverse with pictures ranging from the action adventure based movies like the James Bond series to the supernatural and fantasy setting of Lord of the Rings.

The popular culture of today is no doubt littered with memes, and ridiculous YouTube videos, but the benefits that have come are tremendous. One advantage is the amount of connectivity that we share with the rest of the world. Today we are given the opportunity to learn and discover more about our society and world than we ever could have thanks to tools like the internet. Events that would have taken hours, if not days to broadcast to the world can now be shared within seconds. This, however, doesn't mean that our popular culture comes without flaws. Peoples personal information can be shared throughout the internet at an alarming rate and cyber bullying is at an all time high.

The craft of filmmaking has always intrigued me. I look at film not only as a form of entertainment but also as a form of art. This is why you will most likely catch me in my spare time watching a Stanley Kubrick or Coen Brothers film. I've found that because of these directors I am more and more drawn to filmmaking as a potential career. Theirs and others films are what I consider to have influenced me to be so interested in film making and movies like Pan's Labyrinth, Drive, Full Metal Jacket and Let Me In are perfect examples of why I hold film in such a high regard.
